Supporting Amarillo Entrepreneurs For 28 Years
Eligibility Requirements
- The applicant must have been active in business a minimum of 1 year.

The business must be, or as a result of Amarillo EnterPrize Challenge funding will become, a primary business.

Must fall within one of the qualifying sectors listed under the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). *graphic below

The business must be headquartered in Potter or Randall County, and businesses that receive funding must agree not to relocate for five years.

For each owner and active spouse with at least 20% ownership, we will obtain a credit history report and a criminal background check.

Applicants shall not compete directly in terms of product, distribution, and/or promotion of a similar business with a recent (within five years) Amarillo EnterPrize Challenge award recipients.

The applicant business must provide business formation documents and a federal income tax return for the previous year.

The business must have a documented annual revenue of at least $25,000 in the most recent twelve-month period.

Awarded business owners must submit economic impact data for the life of the business.

Owners cannot be related by first degree of blood or marriage to members of WT Enterprise Center staff, Amarillo EDC staff, Amarillo EDC Board of Directors, Amarillo City Council, America’s SBDC at WTAMU or current judges.

In addition to other program and qualification criteria, the WTEC will disclose in writing to all applicants to the EnterPrize Challenge Program that: (i) eligibility is limited to businesses whose jobs qualify as “primary jobs” under Chapter 501 of the Texas Local Government Code; (ii) documents and information about each applicant are subject to Chapter 552 of the Texas Government Code the Texas Public Information Act) and may be subject to public disclosure; and (iii) discussions about an applicant may be required to occur in open public session under Chapter 551 of the Texas Government Code (the Texas Open Meetings Act).
