The Top 3 Reasons Small Businesses Do Social Media Wrong

As said a thousand times before, social media is crucial for small businesses. Small businesses know how important it is to be on social media, but many just aren’t exactly sure how to be. Here are the top three reasons small businesses are doing social media wrong.

1. So many platforms, so little time.

It’s so simple to become overwhelmed by social media, especially when new platforms are being created everyday.  Often, businesses will establish numerous social media platforms and then leave them stagnant for a matter of time. Try one platform at a time and work your way up.

2. Communication, or the lack thereof.

Nothing is more frustrating than questions and reviews that go unanswered.  Communication among all of your social media sites is imperative, as a customer would hate to know that you are ignoring them. Communicate, respond and engage.  After all, isn’t that what social media is all about?

3. Social media ignorance.

Establishing a social media page is the easy part, but maintaining post frequency is where the trouble for small businesses really begins.  Many pages are ignored and will lack posts for months at a time- DO NOT BE THAT BUSINESS.  Make a schedule and formulate a content plan that will keep you on track for all of your social media posts.
