I had a nightmare the other night that woke me up at 4am. I was dreaming that we were having an event here at the WT Enterprise Center and that Honey Boo Boo and her mom Mama June were the star attractions. For some reason that was not the scary part. The part that woke me up was that in the dream David was expected to give a presentation with a PPT put together by me. But when David gave the presentation it was only half way done, and the presentation ended up being a flop. It was my fault, and I felt terrible.

At this point I woke up and regained awareness of where I was. I was glad it was a just a dream, but naturally I started thinking about whether or not I was doing my job well. Was I completing my work? Was it on time? Am I providing valuable solutions to the team?

In the middle of this thought process I was reminded of a LinkedIn post from a friend of mine.

“If you are not contributing solutions to the team, then eventually the team will find a way to go around you.”

Needless to say, the dream and quote both made me think hard about my contribution to the team. I wanted to share this, because I think it applies to both employees and entrepreneurs alike. It is a tough lesson to learn, but one that is worth learning over and over again.
