In pursuing advancement, balance, success…there always seems to be unrest, mistakes and outright failure. So how does a small business, an entrepreneur someone just wanting “more” get there?
About a year ago, I got an email from a colleague with some insights into the 50 NEW rules of work. When I start to feel overwhelmed or frustrated or just need a creative spark for my life and business, I review them and it always seems to motivate me. I think business today is more competitive than ever- life is more competitive than ever. I know that when life is messy, difficult and challenging,that is the time when the best opportunities for change and success are revealed. I keep my focus on these few of those 50 rules that were shared with me, and it provides me the motivation to work smarter and enjoy the work, which equates to enjoying life at the same time.

- You are not just paid to work. You are paid to be uncomfortable- and to pursue projects that scare you. (I LOVE THIS ONE MOST)
- Take care of your relationships and the money will take care of itself.
- Lead you first.
- To double your income, triple your rate of learning
- Wile victims condemn change, leaders grow inspired by change.
- Small daily improvements over time create stunning results.
- Surround yourself with people courageous enough to speak truthfully about what’s best for your organization and the customers you serve.
- Don’t fall in love with your press releases.
- Good enough just isn’t good enough
- Remember that what makes a great business, in part, are the seemingly insignificant details. Obsess over them.
- If you’re not failing regularly, you’re definitely not making much progress.
- Remember that a critic is a dreamer gone scared.
- The bigger the dream, the more important the TEAM.
- Smile. It makes a difference.
- Don’t do your best work for the applause it generates, but for the personal pride it delivers.
- To be radically optimistic isn’t soft. It’s hard- cynicism is easy.
- Lead without a title.
